Library Cards

  • Library Cards

    • A library card is free to any permanent resident of Brazos County. To obtain a card, a person must show a photo ID, such as a driver's license and proof of current address.

Children applying for library cards must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with acceptable identification. Children must be able to write their complete name.

The initial card for Brazos County residents is free of charge. A $3.00 fee is charged to replace a lost card.

Only one library card is required for use in the system. It is valid at the Clara B. Mounce Public Library, Larry J. Ringer Library, and Carnegie Center of Brazos Valley History.

Library cards are issued to out-of-county residents for a fee of $24.00 a year. Residents of the following counties are eligible for an out-of-county library card: Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, and Washington. To obtain an out-of county card, a person must show a photo ID, such as a driver's license and proof of current address. One card will be issued per family.

Patrons who do not qualify for a regular library card, but wish to use the library computers can obtain a free non-borrower card, renewable every 6 months. Patrons must be able to show a photo ID to obtain the card.

  • TexShare Cards

    • The library system participates in the TexShare Card Program. This program allows patrons to have access to materials not available at their local public or academic library.

Patrons with valid library cards may receive a TexShare card from the Clara B. Mounce or Larry J. Ringer libraries. They can then take the card to any other participating library and use their resources and check out materials.

Also, patrons that have received a TexShare card from a participating library may apply for a Bryan + College Station Library card. They will receive the same card as our patrons, but with some restrictions. The restrictions are as follows:

      • Cards will only be issued to patrons 18 years or older.
      • TexShare borrowers are limited to 5 items checked out at one time.
      • Patron record must be clear before allows to check out items (no fine, no overdue books).
      • No interlibrary loans.

      To get a TexShare card:

      • Patrons must have a valid Bryan + College Station Library card and be 18 years or older and show a photo ID.
      • TexShare cards will be given the same expiration date as their Bryan+College Station Library card.

To get a Bryan + College Station Library card with a TexShare card:

      • Patron must present a valid TexShare card and photo ID.

For more information on the TexShare Card Program and participating libraries, visit the TexShare website at http://www.texshare.edu/programs/card/index.html.

  • Overdue Materials

    • A collection agency is helping to recover overdue materials and unpaid fines. Please return library materials on time.
